China celebrated Communist Party of China (CPC)'s 90th anniversary on Friday, July 1.
Chinese President Hu Jintao delivered the keynote speech in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
In the speech, Jintao looked back at the history of CPC and said he looked forward to a better future. Nine decades ago, 13 individuals founded the Communist Party in a brick-and-wood building in the French concession area of Shanghai, though the meeting was eventually moved to a boat on Nanhu Lake. In nine decades, party membership has grown to 80 million.
The Communist Party of China (CPC), chosen by history and the people, has accomplished three major milestones since its formation 90 years ago, Jintao said Friday.
"The first is that our Party, firmly relying on the people, completed the new-democratic revolution, winning national independence and liberation of the people"

"The second is that, firmly relying on the people, our Party completed the socialist revolution and established the basic socialist system
"The third is that, firmly relying on the people, our Party carried out a great new revolution of reform and opening up, creating, upholding, and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics," Jintao said.
Even before July 1, the people in the mainland had begun celebrating the 90th anniversary. As part of the celebrations, the red history film Beginning of the Great Revival, in which many famous stars acted, was also released around mid-June.
China's fast-growth economy faces some serious problems, including inflation and a real estate bubble.
